The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (and Robin Williams)

In between building barbed-wire fence and herding my niece and nephew around the house, I have been playing through my favorite video game again: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

My family is not a video game family by any stretch of the imagination. We had an NES, but did not upgrade to the Super NES. My parents got me a Nintendo 64 when I entered junior high, but by then the PlayStation was already beginning to come onto the scene and Nintendo was more and more a kid's toy. I think I only ended up owning four N64 games in the end, one of which was Ocarina of Time. I haven't bought a game console since. My buddy Dale is currently trying to convince me to get a Wii. I think I might get an X-Box instead, but alas there is no Zelda on X-Box. Actually, I think I will just pass on video games for the moment.

But as long as I am in New Mexico, I am going to work on beating Ocarina of Time one more ti... err... again. Still, sometimes playing Zelda is a lot like the following video:

In other words, Link is something of a tool.

As it so happens, Nintendo is rereleasing this game for the 3DS. Here are some snippets from their ad campaign. Please note that Robin Williams is such a huge The Legend of Zelda fan that he named his daughter after the princess.

You will come over and play twilight princess on wii and that will be the end of your xbox rebellion. Or you will come over and play starcraft 2 and that will be the end of needing a gaming console.
